This Must Be The Place Solo Show at MAIA Contemporary

Throughout history, people have traveled in all directions carrying with them unique ways of thinking. These ways have mixed with the ways of the people they encounter and given birth to new ones.

In This Must Be The Place, I’ve taken the Aztec legend of the foundation of Tenochtitlan (now Mexico city) as a metaphor to explore the concept of home and family as the place where one feels the best, a place to lay down roots.

My work often explores how people of different cultures integrate similar themes and issues. My goal is to create work that is the result of a mix of aesthetics that remind us how, despite our differences, we are all connected.
