THE INSPIRATION BEHIND THE ART:
I’m really excited to release these two new books! I’ve always believed that books are the very best way to experience art.
Seeing the real pieces—their true size, texture, and presence—is, of course, a special experience. But let’s be honest: walking through museums and galleries can also be exhausting and overwhelming, so those visits are best kept short.
Viewing art on the internet has its advantages too. There’s an incredible amount available, and it’s easy to dive deep—tracking down works, exploring historical context, and following the clues artists leave behind. But the experience can feel frantic; there’s nothing truly calm about staring into a glowing, flickering screen, even when the art itself is serene.
Books strike the perfect balance. They’re quiet and contemplative, bringing together many works by the same artist or movement. You can spend time with them at your own pace, in any order you choose, creating a peaceful, personal communion with the art.
I’ve wanted to make a book for a very, very long time, and I’m thrilled that it’s finally happening! A huge thank-you to my assistant and friend, Attie Schuler, who designed and edited both books in under three months. She did an incredible job, and I’m so excited to share these with you!
Compound Interests showcases small, detailed illustrations of Bird Pot creatures engaged in everyday scenes and reflections, alongside three-dimensional Bird Pot sculptures crafted from ceramic clay and steel. This book also provides a glimpse into the studio where Ravi Zupa and his team work hard each day.
This is Certified Organic Intelligence Art! Everything about this book celebrates human creativity. It begins with a real person using good old-fashioned paper and pencil and ends with a real person carefully packaging it up by hand to deliver it to real people who will use Organic Human Intelligence to look at it! We sincerely thank you for your support!
